While some may be temporarily lured away from the old-world glamour of Recoleta for trendier areas of Palermo, they ultimately return for the incredible architecture and cultural infrastructure of high-end shops and restaurants. Hub Porteno is hidden behind white-painted stonewalls acceding to double-glass doors with sculptural iron adornment. Inside the former private residence, a cocoon of veiny Calcutta marble slabs line the reception with Tiffany-style pendant lights hanging from the ceiling. A series of small parlors lead to a terrarium dining room known as Tarquino next to a small wine bar with more gentlemanly decor. Outside a colorful summer terrace is lined in oversize sofas in Missoni-style fabrics. An experience-based hotel, the property offers each of its guests a unique concierge service of concert tickets, local experiences and shopping guides.
The Room
A total of just 11 rooms are staggered along the front and rear-facing garden of the property with newer wood floors and pure white walls juxtaposed with gilded rococo mirrors, leather tufted headboards and antiques wares from benches to hanging pendant lamp. Larger suites offer their own private outdoor spaces with oversize wooden French doors or walls of picture windows in smaller rooms. Bathrooms mix black or white Carrera marble vanities with inset sinks opposite rain shower or deep soaking tub capped in period chandeliers.
